Beyond The Dugout is pleased to introduce LUKE'S LINEUPS a charitable effort to support children's leukemia research.
Earlier this year, my youngest son, Luke, came home and informed me that one of his buddy’s brothers was really sick…we soon learned that his two-year-old brother had been diagnosed with leukemia.  Luke felt that we should do something to help, and asked what we could do.  I asked him to think about what he could do, and his first thought was to sell some of his “baseball stuff”.  When I asked what he wanted to sell, the first thing he brought me was a manager’s lineup card that his uncle (Jai Miller, then with the New Orleans Zephyrs) had given him last season with several player signatures on it. From that one instant, “Luke’s Lineups” was formed…with the idea to collect and auction team-signed manager lineup cards from each Minor and Major League team throughout professional baseball…with all proceeds from the auctions going to support leukemia research. Beyond The Dugout is in the process of collecting lineup cards from participating teams, and, with the help of eBay Auctions, will begin auctioning off these one-of-a-kind items as soon as they become available, with the first auction scheduled to begin soon after the completion of this year's Major League All Star Game in Phoenix, Arizona.  Lineup cards will continue to be auctioned as they are received throughout the second half of the 2011 MLB season. We understand that this effort is small in comparison to other efforts carrying a national or worldwide impact, but we hope it will raise both money and awareness of the impact leukemia has on the lives of children, and their families.  We appreciate your interest in, and support of, Luke's Lineups.
